During the night, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered problems to drinking water, according to city officials.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles damaged power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region experienced intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and several individuals were wounded.

The strikes come after evenings of air raids in the region, parts of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting energy systems.

He said energy workers and officials were bracing for further attacks.
